About Workshop Equipment Specialists (W.E.S)

Workshop Equipment Specialists was started in 1981 by Bill and Hellen Harper. Established in Bendigo (Central Victoria) the business (now known as W.E.S), mainly supplied hardware stores with products purchased from importers.

The first products imported by W.E.S were General Purpose arc welding electrodes under the registered brand name 'nuweld'®. These welding rods, in their distinctive purple and white packaging, are now available in most parts of Australia and the Pacific Islands.

The W.E.S range of electric welding products has increased to include Stainless Steel, Cast Iron and Hard Facing welding rods, all types of welding accessories such as welding cable, electrode holders, earth clamps, welding face shields and welding masks (Standard and solar powered).

'Duraflex'® cutting and grinding wheels were introduced in 2002 and, because of their high quality, market acceptance has been positive. Late in 2003 the 'Duraflex'® Ultra Thin cutting discs were added to the range.

In 2004, W.E.S included a range of 'Artisan'® tungsten carbide wood cutting saw blades and later in 2004 added 'Duraflex'® flap wheels.

Early in 2005 'Duraflex'® Diamond Blades were included in the 'Duraflex'® range and a range of 'Weldfast'® MIG welding wire was added to the W.E.S. product list.

In January 2006 W.E.S moved into larger premises at 32 Bellevue Road, Golden Square,in anticipation of the arrival of the new Redback Storage System components which are now readily available.

During 2007, our range was strengthened and our distributorship widenend.

2007 - 2008 the automatic welding shields, SOLARWELD and SOLARBLUE were included.

2008 also saw the addition to the Redback range and the launch of our W.E.S catalogue and Brochures.
